They know that at above 250 °C, duplex grades can be affected by embrittlement caused by spinodal decomposition. This has a significant effect on mechanical properties such as hardness and impact toughness, but will also affect corrosion properties to a greater or lesser extent.
Several projects have been carried out to gain detailed knowledge in this area, while information is also available in standards. However, until now a high-level overview has been missing. Outokumpu has made an effort to establish the current knowledge on the subject and how to best summarize it for the material user.
