Specialized plates require a specialized approach to production. Outokumpu Press Plate uses industry-leading expertise and unique processes to produce plates with exceptional flatness and cleanliness.

A highly advanced manufacturer of customized press plates, ready-to-use plates for the hardboard industry and semi-finished niche plates for the laminate industry, Outokumpu Press Plate in Avesta routinely produces plates of martensitic stainless steel that satisfy manufacturers’ exacting standards.

Take flatness, for instance. Combining the hardness of steel with the flatness required by the hardboard and laminate industries is a challenge for most manufacturers. Outokumpu’s proprietary hardening process – unique within the industry – delivers an excellent degree of flatness, an essential feature for high-pressure laminate (HPL) and large low-pressure laminate (LPL) presses.

Laminate manufacturers marry a printed image to an imprinted texture to create the look and feel of an organic surface like wood or slate. It is critically important that there be no non-metallic impurities in the plates used to create that textured imprint. A qualified route from Outokumpu’s own Avesta Mill to Press Plate ensures that plates are made of the cleanest stainless steel available.

As a complement to plates for the laminate and board industry Outokumpu Press Plate is also a world leader in the production of hard rolled coils for use in a wide variety of applications, including endless belts for the production of fiberboards such as for example MDF.

In addition to our high quality Outokumpu Press Plate offers short lead time and technical support.
